Pharmacology

Overview

Department of Pharmacology is dedicated for teaching undergraduate MBBS students about Pharmacology which inculcate rational pharmacotherapy amongst future doctors. Pharmacovigilance Committee is also functional under the department. The department actively participates in various research activities.

Services

  • Department of Pharmacology is majorly occupied with aim of teaching undergraduate MBBS students. 
  • Various aspects of Pharmacology like basic information of drugs, their mechanism of action, uses, adverse effects, contraindications, limitations and most importantly their rational use in medical practice.
  • Teaching-learning happens mainly by means of didactic lectures, practical sessions and tutorials along with seminars, group discussions, problem solving exercises and projects.
  • Pharmacology is taught as guided by NMC which is assessment directed learning. Students constantly go through various formative assessment before overall summative assessment. This helps them learn the subject better.
  • Department of Pharmacology also runs a Pharmacovigilance centre. It carries out various pharmacovigilance activities like ADR monitoring of Bhagyoday Hospital, training health care workers of the hospital in regular interval. It is part of Pharmacovigilance Program of India run by National Coordination Centre. 
  • Faculties of the Department are involved in research activities related to clinical pharmacology and medical education. This is actually helping to improve overall therapy for the patients and also helping in better teaching-learning experience for the students at large scale.
