Biochemistry is at the heart of various medical disciplines like Physiology, Genetics, Medicine, Pathology, Microbiology and Community Medicine. Therefore, it is very important to have an in depth knowledge of Biochemistry for M.B.B.S. Students and practicing doctors as well. The knowledge and skills in Biochemistry are of paramount importance in differentiating health from diseases. The clinicians have a full gamut of biochemical tests for judicious selection for diagnosing various pathological states. Hence, in addition to imparting knowledge and skills of Biochemistry to the U.G. Students, the department has well developed Clinical Biochemical and research labs.

Under Graduate Teaching

As per CBME, Department of Biochemistry is having U.G. Teaching Curriculum in Biochemistry Subject for 1st Year MBBS Students It has lecture series, Small Group Discussion Seminars , Tutorials, U.G. Practical& Demonstration Session & Early Clinical Exposure. Learning of AETCOM Topicsthrough Lecture & Practical performance under Departmental Supervision

Equipped with various Equipment like Semi Auto Analyzer, Colorimeters,Clinical Chemistry Analyzer, Microscope, Chormatography Chamber, Electrophoresis, Spectrophotometer, Centrifuge, ELISA, Hot Air Oven, Incubator, Digital PH meter, rectangular and digital waterbath, Balance, Dispensing Bottles, Autopipettes and Reagents / Chemicals for Practicals. Also having LCD Projector,Whiteboard, OHP for Teaching. 

All the necessary laboratory tests like routine, emergency and special including endocrines and tumor markers are being done in the laboratory and also with the help of outsourcing by Greencross laboratories.

The Clinical Biochemistry laboratory is fully equipped with sophisticated instruments like fully automated analyzers, electrolyte analyzer and ABG analyzer in addition to semi auto analyzer.The research  laboratory has got a UV spectrophotometer, thermocycler, UV transilluminator, microbalance, electrophoresis apparatus, etc.
